The Twiglight Zone

The rain may have ended the 'hosepipe ban', but it's sent the weeds and plants in the garden wild. Cutting back the hedgerow left us with plenty of branches. So I saved a few from the incinerator to make an unusual tea light holder.
With the unseasonal weather we have had lately, I had to dry them out first. The fire on in late June!
I measured and cut them all to the roughly the same size and then painstakingly used my new glue gun to stick each twig to the tumbler.
After many swear words later (my glue gun is VERY temperamental!) I finally finished it.
The sun set and the tealights came out...

That looks so pretty! I've seen these on pinterest but haven't tried making one yet. I will have to give it a go after seeing yours!

If you have a minute to spare perhaps you could link up this great post to my weekly Say G'day Linky party? I'd be thrilled if you could share this great idea!

Best wishes,
Natasha in Oz

I love the title of your post...I am old enough to remember "The Twilight Zone" so that was a really clever parody of the show title. Hey, not to mention that the actual craft is fantastic! I always have to use swear words when I use my glue gun but it is usually because I burn my fingers. I saw your post (and great photos) over at Debbiedoos "Newbie Party".

Lovely idea. We have had our stove on most of the month so far. But at least it's sunny this morning. Maybe it's compensating for last nights footie!

Gosh, who would have thought they would make such elegant BBQ lights. The effect is amazing. I wonder how you come up with these ideas. Lovely.

Hey, thats a good idea on how to re-cycle all those twiggy bits from hedges. I love what you have done. I can imagine a row of them on the mantlepiece.

Oh, that blows my mind. It's so simple but looks so amazing when finished. I'm sure a regular retailer would charge over $20 for those. Beautiful. Well done.

Love the look. Hint: I don't know what you call them there, but here they are called rubber bands. It would make this project so much easier.
Hugs!

This is just too clever. I love the finished look with the light shining out between the twigs. And this just sounds like fun! Thank you for sharing at Freedom Fridays.
PS I am definitely trying this:)

I really love this and think it would be great even in a larger size. Perhaps as large as the shell and sand candle holder with the jute twine I made for the patio. Thanks for stopping by to visit my blog!

Guess whose sweet little candle is being featured at Freedom Fridays this week? I'm not telling, lol!

Lovely project - really effective. I'm more of a DIY fashion crafter, myself, but I'll have to try this one some day ;)
