He cut me 4 'slices' from the log. They aren't quite the the same thickness, but we thought that made them more appealing.
I dusted them down with a brush and then I applied a layer of Mod Podge to seal them.
Finally, I cut out some felt circles and Mod Podge'd them to the underside of the coasters - something to project the furniture.

what a great idea! My hubby cuts wood to heat our house... I may just have to steal a log or two and make a bunch of these. How did you cut it so thin?

Using a vice and my husband's very steady hand. I now want to find some larger logs so I can make some matching place mats :)
Cute, love them... too bad my husband won't let me go nowhere near a big saw like that because, klutz that I am, I will end up with cute coasters and nine fingers ;-)
