The fire is on and so are the lounge lights.
It's miserable outside.
I think it's officially time to countdown to Christmas!

And I've already started doing Christmas crafts. Today I attempted some tree decorations; faux christmas cookie style.
I stirred 1 cup of bicarbonate of soda, 1/2 cup of cornflour and 3/4 cup of water over a low heat until it resembled mashed potato.
Once it cooled, I started to create using cookie cutters and rubber stamps.
After an hour in the oven (roughly 160 degrees) they were rock hard and ready to be hung with twine (it's back!)I just hope my husband doesn't try to eat these at Christmastime... he'll be in for a shock.

These are great, though I am far from being ready to tackle anything Christmas-wise! I might have to give these a try since I want our decorations this year to be homemade!
I'm going to have to remember this for when the time comes. I have wanted to make some fun ornaments in this style. Thank you for posting it.
They are lovely! Loving your countdown to Christmas - I love Christmas makes.

Those are really cute! And I thought I was the only one who was already in the Christmas spirit! :)
Those are adorable! I saw people using those as gift tags too! I am going to try my hand at this! Thanks for sharing at the Pomp Party! Pinning!
These are great! I'm glad I'm not the only one already excited over Christmas- I already have half my shopping done! Next focus is baking and decorations, so I will keep these ornaments in mind ;) I found you via ClaireJustine's blog, now following. Having a hop at my blog, too: http://jessica-healthymommyhealthybaby.blogspot.com/2012/08/sweet-saturday-18-with-sweet-features.html. Would love it if you joined!
Btw, what kind of stamps did you use? Just regular rubber ones?
Hi Jessica, I used just regular rubber stamps. I rarely use them for inking now, so means they have a new lease of life!

Hi these are really cute! I've never heard of this recipe with the baking soda, but it sounds fun! Found you thru Joy in the Jumbles party.

Those are so cute! I would not have thought to use stamps. I'm glad someone asked. Nice job. I haven't even thought about Christmas yet...guess I'd better start!
Wow, you've got an early start on Christmas prep, haven't you! The ornaments are so cute!
I pinned it too... Just because I love Christmas and you've written Noel on one of these ;) ( I'm French indeed)
xoxo
Wonderful Christmas ornaments!!! i have tried that too, so much cheaper that poly clay. Have a wonderful day
Love that you have used stamps to write greetings in these they look brilliant! Did you have to get your christmas tree out especially for these photos?!
LOL no, a mini tree has been waiting to be put in the loft since last Xmas - my husband takes his time doing tasks - so I had it to hand! Needless to say it won't go into the loft now until January!
I really like the way you have used stamps on the shapes -a really great idea. Have you ever tried adding in sweets before baking? They are meant to melt and provide little windows.
I like this idea and great for the pre Christmas diet!!
These look so good and must admit with the darker mornings and nights certainly not long now.
Lovely ideas, using the stamps has made them that bit different.
These are brilliant, and I love the way you've used stamps with them too.
Fab (and messy - or at least it would be if i did it!) tutorial
Remember making things with dough when the kids were young. Good idea to stamp it adds extra texture to it.
I love the stamps you used across the cookies. Joanna x
WOW girl you are getting a jump start for sure. These would make fantastic little presents. Thanks for sharing with my party.
oooooh these are cute :) you've actually got me in the mood for Christmas! x
This is very exciting! I'm already in the Christmas spirit: my boyfriend made me mini-Christmas for my birthday on the 30th August :)
I really like those, they are so cool - nice job!
Oh I totally remember making those with my Mother for Christmas presents for my teachers! Sigh...I'm so glad Summer is OVER...well...in Texas it ends in January..lol!

This looks like a great idea. I think I'll try it with my granddaughters. They love to cut out regular cookies and these would make sweet little gifts for them to give their friends and family. Thanks for sharing this idea and dough recipe. Bless you, Gail (BibleLoveNotes.com)
