After the success of my napkin covered pickle jar tea light holder, I decided to use the same idea to recycle what was left from a Christmas candle... the glass jar ... to create a faux stained glass effect.
I simply punched out different sized circles of red and purple tissue paper (sandwiched in between normal paper, so it wouldn't tear when punched).
Then using a brush, I randomly applied the circles to the glass with PVA, covering all four sides.
It took a couple of hours to dry (I got a little brush-happy with the PVA!), but it was worth the wait.
And not only can it be used as a vase, it also works well as a tealight holder...

Oh wow...that is just awesome! You are so creative!
It's gorgeous! I've used this technique with torn mulberry paper and that always works well too. I love your tip for punching the tissue paper!
Lovely idea :)
That jar looks fabulous whichever way you use it but I think the tea-light idea is very pretty indeed.
I love the idea that your jar is multi-functional, great colour combo too. I am now going to be buying bizarre things in the supermarket, just to get hold of pretty jar shapes... I wonder if that is where the anchovies in my cupboard came from, considering that I don't eat them and live on my own?
hello from a glass painter, who absolutely adores making and looking at any candleholders :)
it is a fab tute. thanks for sharing. i'm adding it to my fave links.
love the glass, love the glow/shade effect. isnt simple pva glue amazing?
Lovely colours and so many uses ! I have made similar one ages ago and the glue is still fine, so they are pretty durable as well.
Cute vase/candle holder too!
